The first recognised professional writer of the German-speaking area, Doctor of History, critical observer of her times and a literature historian Ricarda Hutch was interested in the ideals of (early) German Romanticism throughout her life. This paper presents Huch’s interest in Romanticism in three stages. First, Huch’s subjective rapprochement with Romanticism will be presented. The second theme discussed in the article are some aspects of her literary-intellectual work on German Romanticism. Thirdly, the story of Huch, which was created under the influence of romantic ideals, will be discussed.

This article focuses on the German art review «Kunst-Blatt» and its leading role in early Nineteenth-Century historiography of Italian art. Particular attention is drawn to the contributions of three eminent German scholars of this period: Ludwig Schorn (1793-1842), Ernst Förster (1800-1885) and Johannes Gaye (1804-1840).

In popular critical and readerly reception, the New York School of poetry was shaped mostly by what Marjorie Perloff calls the tradition of indeterminacy. This was started by Arthur Rimbaud and, a few decades later, developed by Dadaists and Surrealists. Therefore, the tradition of French modernism seems to have been vital for John Ashbery, Frank O’Hara, James Schuler, and Barbara Guest, and the poets themselves appeared to confirm this fact. The following article attempts to characterize the letters of Ricarda Huch to Richard Huch from 1887-1897. The focus is on the idealization and domination of unconventional love as well as the characteristics of an individual suffering from unfulfilled love, seeking despite that to find herself in everyday life. The inner development of the author of the letters has been shown, overcoming her depressing reality thanks to her inner strength and the power of her intellect as well finding herself in the daily routines of life.
